One of the main quests you get from Brant early in the campaign for Dragon's Dogma 2 is to attend the Masquerade at the Vernworth castle grounds. You may have approached the area to no avail, or even already have your Courtly Raiments and the guard tells you "There's no Masquerade tonight".
- An Unsettling Encounter: Learning more about Allard
- The Caged Magistrate: Freeing the prisoner by finding a place with plenty of books
- The Stolen Throne: Attending the masquerade
Complete Pre-requisite Quests
The order that we have listed the quests is no coincidence. You will essentially need to complete these quests in this order. However, there are more to each of these quests than simply completing them. You first will need to complete An Unsettling Encounter, but to begin it you will need to trigger another quest first.
If you still need to complete these, we highly suggest you follow this guide which outlines both An Unsettling Encounter and The Caged Magistrate. This guide gives step-by-step instructions to complete these.
As a recap, you will need to complete these tasks:
- Head to the slums in Vernworth and you should run into Kendrick. He gives you what appears to be a side quest to find a boy named Malcolm. You will need to find Malcolm and complete this quest to be able to find the "place with plenty of books"
- After this quest you will be able to complete An Unsettling Encounter by infiltrating the castle and overhearing the conversations in Allard's Chambers (which you can only do at nighttime)
- Then you will meet the prisoner Waldhar in prison and release him, showing him the way to the room you found while searching for Malcolm.+
How to Get To The Masquerade in Dragon's Dogma 2
Now that you've completed the other quests that allow you to venture through the castle, you should have all you need to move onto the masquerade. Something specific you will need are royal raiments. You will need:
- Courtly Breeches
- Courtly Tunic
- Eventide Mask
You should have looted the Courtly gear in chests within the castle while you were completing the other quests. If you didn't happen to get these, you will need to return to the Vernworth Castle and run through any rooms you can find within the castle, opening chests until you get the chest and the pants.
We were able to get 2 sets of the Courtly gear, so we know there are at least two different chests within the castle which you can get it.
Attending the Masquerade
If you have all 3 of these equipped, head back to Brant and ask of the Coronation. You will be brought to a cinematic, then shortly after, back to Brant. Now the Masquerade is officially "unlocked" to be able to attend to.
Head to Vernworth Hall at Vernworth Castle. Enter the building and head around to the back room. There is a hidden door (shown near 7:45-8 minutes in the video below). Walk through this door and you are able to duck out the back, towards the Rose Chateau Bordelrie.
While in the establishment, follow the storyline and you will complete the quest. We will not write much more here about this quest as it is mostly cinematics at this point, so sit back and enjoy the show until the quest is completed!
