If you love the weapon you're holding in Dragon's Dogma 2, you might be glad to know you can strengthen it. By upgrading weapons, you decrease their weight and increase their strength in battle.

Where can you upgrade weapons and armor in Dragon's Dogma 2?

To better your weapons and armor in Dragon's Dogma 2, you'll want to visit an armorsmith or a blacksmith. In other words, head to a vendor that sells armor and weapons. One example (and likely the most accessible) is Bjorn's Armory in Vernmouth. This store is in the northern section of the Merchant Quarter next to Roderick's Smithy and Philbert's Sundries.

Speak to the shopkeeper and select "Enhance Equipment." From here, you can power up your weapons, shields, and armor. You should know, however, that it will cost gold to enhance your gear. For example, the Vermundian Brand sword needs 1656 gold for its second phase. You'll also need a certain number of materials listed below the weapon. This weapon needs four Chopper Horns, for example.

Improving the Vermundian Brand sword lessens its weight by 0.06kg and increases its strength by 18 points. That certainly seems worth the price and the grind to find the Chopper Horns.

Where do you find these upgrade materials?

The material you need to upgrade your weapons and armor in Dragon's Dogma 2 varies for each item you want to enhance. The first enhancement comes with no materials and a small gold cost. However, the next phases will be harder. The Iron Helm helmet requires two Silver Ores. This is a common drop you can find within caves. Your character pulls a pickaxe out of nowhere and goes ham on the ore waiting for you on the walls.

It does get more difficult, however, with the third and final phase of the Iron Helm's enhancement journey. Two Rugged Bones and three Scrap Irons are required. Rugged Bones can be obtained by defeating wild cyclops in the area. And believe me, they're much tougher than the X-Men's Scott Summers.

In conclusion, these upgrade materials vary for each weapon and armor piece. The rarer the item you're trying to enhance, the more difficult it will likely be to obtain the materials. However, the effort will be worth it with substantial upgrades to the stats of what you're using.
